Job Purpose:

This position provides and updates financial information for management by analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. The position is also responsible for month-end reporting relating to quantity shipped, sales, etc. The Staff Accountant is responsible for coordinating financial cost and inventory analysis functions necessary to support, control, and report on the Company's operational performance. Establish variance analysis reporting by department and product category so the Management Team is kept informed of pertinent financial information regarding actual cost variances to standard.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares month-end reports relating to quantity shipped, sales, commissions, and any other month-end duties assigned by the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Controller or CFO.
Prepares weekly reports showing key business indicators such as efficiency, scrap variances to standard, and material usage variances to standard.
Document financial transactions.
Prepares monthly entries and documents ensuring all subsidiary ledger activity is posted. Prepares monthly bank reconciliation.
Verifies A/R and responsible for G/L adjustments and collection calls.
Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries.
Summarizes current financial status by preparing financial statements and reports. Schedules monthly financial meetings.
Reconcile financial discrepancies.
Analyzes changes in production design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost.
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and works with Champion Teams to improve processes in order to increase gross profit.
Prepares weekly and, if required, monthly inventory cycle count variances.
Monitors Engineering and Tool Room timecards and provides analysis to managers in order to ensure proper recording of billable hours.
Assists and trains functional managers in developing and understanding the effective utilization of departmental cost controls.
Ensures proper integration of the server/ERP application, uses existing knowledge to make sure the system is effectively meeting the Company's needs, studies the effectiveness of the system, and analyzes costing and production outputs to utilize the data to make recommendations along with assist in the Company's overall planning strategies.
Performs daily financial transactions including computing, classifying, and posting accounts receivable data, and works with customer contacts in order to ensure accurate and timely invoice payment.
Provides financial analysis for special projects as directed by Senior Management.
Maintains familiarity with accounting principles and standards, financial systems, and related software necessary to support the Company's business needs.
Requirements:

Educational Requirements and Years of Experience:

Recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and possess a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
Previous accounting or financial experience, especially in manufacturing, a plus.

Administrative, Technological and Behavioral Skills:

Computer literate - Understanding of the operation of a personal computer and peripheral equipment. Medium level of experience with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) and other analytical tools.
Excellent planning and organizations skills - Able to establish priorities, delegate activities to staff and proceed with daily objectives with some direction from Senior Management. Good attention to details. Able to multi-task by handling/delegating several projects at the same time.
Good communication skills - Able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Able to deal tactfully with subordinates, peers and, particularly, with Senior Management. Able to create and maintain cooperative team-building relationships.
Can do attitude - Pleasant demeanor when interacting with individuals outside/inside the Company, even within heated situations. A strong desire to succeed.
Confidentiality - Able to handle Company sensitive information with discretion. Highest integrity and respect for the confidentiality of Human Resource information.
Sound decision-making skills - Maintain Senior Management abreast of customer/manufacturing requirements and concerns. Able to serve as catalyst of daily decisions governed by Company controls/policies. Understanding of the "big picture" and how decisions made will have a company wide impact.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge - Attends workshops, seminars, and reads trade publications to stay up-to-date of technology and industry trends.
