Position overview: A standardized patient is a person who supports the clinical training of health professionals by following a provided script to simulate real-life scenarios for health profession students. The standardized patient should be able to accurately and consistently recreate the scenario with appropriate personality and emotion to enable health profession students to prepare for practice.

Essential job functions:

Support the clinical instruction by creating a real-life scenario for in-person, virtual, or hybrid student laboratory experiences
Simulate all aspects of your given scenario including the medical information and behaviors in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner
Be willing to be audio and videotaped during select encounters
Be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Provide constructive feedback to students as needed
Highly dependable and punctual
Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and assignments
Work in a professional manner when interacting with students, faculty, and supervisors

Qualifications:

High school degree preferred
Previous acting or standardized patient roles preferred
Must be proficient in written and oral communication skills
Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude
Must maintain confidentiality
Must have a valid Indiana driver's license or comparable ability to attend in-person laboratory sessions at Manchester's Fort Wayne campus
Must own a computer
Must be able to utilize Microsoft Word
Must be able to utilize videoconferencing platforms such as TEAMs (virtual or hybrid)

Work schedule: This is a non-exempt, part-time position with an average expectation of 6-8 hours per month Monday through Friday. The majority of the interactions will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between the hours of 9 am-4 pm with time scheduled for lunch unless otherwise noted. There is an opportunity to select serving as a campus, virtual, and hybrid standardized patient depending on interest.
