Overview:
About the role
The Tax Associate will be part of the New Jersey based team and have the opportunity to directly work with other core business departments. This role will have exposure to a combination of business entities operating in the traditional & renewable energy, real estate and private equity funds. The position provides for potential long term career advancement and will encompass numerous facets of tax compliance, planning, and research in a dynamic organization with a proven track record of growth and expansion.
Responsibilities:
What you will do
Preparation of domestic (partnership & corporate) federal and state income tax workpapers utilized for estimated tax payments, investor tax projections, and timely filings of returns and reports
Aspects of tax compliance, which vary based on assignments, may include preparation of tax basis trial balances, incentive carry waterfalls, depreciation calculations, federal and state tax withholding, and E&P adjustments
Support coordination efforts with outside tax firms regarding review comments of prepared tax returns and interacting for research questions/projects
Assist with due diligence and tax implications of any acquisitions, dispositions and other transactions including ownership or debt restructuring
Identification, research and analysis of tax technical issues
Preparing written memos to document tax positions and memorialize meeting notes
Qualifications:

Hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business field required. Advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
2+ years of professional experience in partnership taxation, public accounting and/or private equity experience a plus
Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of tax and financial accounting concepts
Have a strong work ethic and well organized - ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, while meeting deadlines
Have an intermediate level of Excel skills including formula efficiency and workbook navigation
Are an effective communicator both written & verbal
Have the ability to work independently as well as within a team structure
Are comfortable interfacing with external tax advisors, intercompany departments, and investors.
