Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position with night shifts and weekend rotation, requiring a current ND or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care setting within the Med/Surg Float Pool
- Care for both surgical and medical patients, including those with total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, CHF, CVA, SOB, and diabetic issues
- Unit includes 61 combined beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
- Shift is 12 hours, nights, with every other weekend required
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units is required, first to float as a traveler
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- Monitor techs read telemetry strips with RN confirmation
- CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen equipment used on unit
- No drip titration required
- Assist a diverse patient population with common med/surg conditions and post-operative care
- Collaboration with monitor techs for telemetry monitoring; RNs confirm readings
- 12 hours of unit-specific orientation and float pool checklist provided
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- Must cover every other holiday as scheduled
- Candidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the last year; PRN through outside agencies is allowed
- First to float policy applies to travelers
Requirements
- Active ND or compact RN license at the time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
- Able to provide 2 professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of Driver's License required at time of consideration
