JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this role plays a crucial role in championing excellence in the execution of Clinical training, Professional Education, and Sales Training functions. The incumbent will develop and maintain professional, in-house training and education content aligned with brand messaging to increase surgeon and clinic confidence and adoption of STAAR products.

Ensure cross-functional collaboration with Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs and external surgeons and third-party business partners is achieved to deliver targeted and differentiated Surgeon and OD Education programs.

Collaborate with Medical Affairs/Legal/Regulatory committees to assure programs adheres to compliance guidelines.

Ensure on-site and remote training and product presentation are delivered to global ODs/ Surgeons and clinical staff during surgical certification process, in synergy with STAAR CMO and external proctoring resources in addition to ongoing clinical training and education follow-up support for new surgeon customers and clinics following initial certification.

Ensure effective product training is delivered to commercial teams and their new employees.

Develop and implement a strategic vision that align with the company's mission and goals.

Ensure development and implementation of global, professional education strategy. Guide team that is responsible for engagement with KOLs, execution of Medical Advisory Board events, Investor Days, Meetings and Events, Product Experience Center events and general engagement with customers.

Collaboratively set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound goals that guide the organization's growth and improvement over time.

Develop and implement a strategy of education for all sales personnel to enhance surgeon and OR staff experience during surgical cases and a similar strategy for enhancing surgeon, OD, and clinic staff experience during pre and postoperative exam and patient acquisition.

Foster a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities to introduce new programs, technologies or methodologies that align with the strategic goals.

Ensure that the strategic plan accounts for long-term sustainability.

Effectively communicate the strategic plan to all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.

Create and implement professional development plans for direct reports to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Provide guidance and leadership to direct reports to ensure consistent implementation of goals and initiatives.

Identify and nurture potential leaders within the organization by providing leadership training, mentorship, and opportunities for growth.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages open communication, idea-sharing, and cross-functional cooperation.

Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives within the team, ensuring that all members feel valued, respected, and represented.

Create channels for gathering feedback from stakeholders to inform decision-making and continuously improve the organization's deliverables.

Establish key performance metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of organization's deliverables.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders and external vendors.

Identify and collaborate with key influencers, stakeholders, and organizations to enhance organization's reputation and expand its reach.

Utilize data and analytics to track trends, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions to optimize growth.

Optimize resource allocation to support organizational goals.

Participate in audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Regularly review and assess compliance practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing growth.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. MBA/Graduate degree a plus.


EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10 years of training & development experience in the medical device/biotech sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

Experience participating in and/or coordinating MLR reviews/workflows and/or compliance assessments; effective in utilizing related digital asset or content management systems.

Experience with project management tools

Experience with virtual collaboration tools

Strong knowledge of in-practice and national training programming

Understanding of online/hybrid learning and pedagogical principles

Familiarity with medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review processes
